THE IMPORTANCE OF EXFOLIATING:

What Is Exfoliating?

Do you ever notice your skin looks flaky and dry and needs some attention? Exfoliating helps to buff away and remove the dead skin cells that attribute to flaky, dry, or even itchy skin. Our skin sheds cells naturally and new layers of skin form. To help our skin look fresh and youthful, it is helpful to remove all of the dead skin cells. This also removes any dry or flaky areas, and makes your skin look smooth and fresh. Exfoliating can be done with a product that contains granules to help remove the dead skin cells. You can also use a tool such as a loofah, brush, or pumice stone.

How Often Is Exfoliating Necessary and How Do You Exfoliate?

Exfoliating should be part of your regular weekly routine, and it is recommended that we exfoliate our skin twice a week. Exfoliating too often can remove healthy oils, so you never want to over exfoliate. To exfoliate use a scrub or cream wash on your damp skin in the shower or bath. Really lather up the product, and scrub in circular motions over your skin. Make sure afterwards to use a good moisturizer to help keep your skin fresh and glowing. If you have any patches of irritated skin such as acne or sunburn, make sure to avoid those areas until they are healed.
